Warranty & care

Built to last. Backed in writing.

Every piece that leaves the Tilarán woodshop carries a one-year limited warranty — built-in or freestanding, installed or not. Here is exactly what that covers, and how to keep your piece well for decades.

The warranty

What it covers

The warranty protects the original purchaser, at the original place of delivery or installation. If a piece or component shows a manufacturing defect within one year, we repair or restore it at no cost.

Hardware

If hinges, sliders, or handles need replacement, we replace them with an identical or compatible part. Replacements stay covered for the remainder of the original warranty period.

Stone & solid surfaces

Quartz, marble, granite, and Corian are covered when permanently installed indoors. If a surface is replaced, slight variations in color and veining are natural to the stone.

LED lighting

Built-in LED lights, transformers, and connectors are covered for 30 days against defects in materials or workmanship — not damage from power surges. Costa Rica's grid fluctuates; we recommend a voltage regulator where possible.

The honest part

What it doesn't cover

Some things are the nature of real materials or the conditions of use, and fall outside the warranty:

If something isn't covered, we'll still tell you honestly what it needs — advice is free.

If something's wrong

How to make a claim

Write to us during the coverage period — hello@bernardourbina.com or WhatsApp.

Include your original proof of purchase.

Send photos or video that clearly show the issue.

We respond quickly, look at each case properly, and find the solution that honors the piece.

Care guide

Caring for your piece, material by material

Place furniture where temperature and humidity stay stable, away from direct sunlight. That one habit preserves more than any product will.

Wood
  • Our hardwoods are kiln-dried in-house to 8–12% humidity and treated against pests.
  • Keep pieces away from direct heat, moisture, and sunlight; in humid climates, a dehumidifier helps.
  • Clean with a dry microfiber cloth, or one slightly dampened with water. For stubborn spots, mild hand soap diluted in water.
  • Avoid harsh detergents, oils, and commercial waxes.
Melamine
  • For indoor use; wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately.
  • Water and gentle care are enough — no harsh cleaners.
  • Moisture-resistant melamine is tougher, but still avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.
High-pressure laminate (Formica)
  • Clean with water, mild detergent, and a soft cloth.
  • Don't place hot items directly on the surface.
  • Wipe spills right away.
Fabrics — vinyl, Sunbrella, Aquaclean
  • Vinyl: wipe with a damp cloth; mild soap and water for tougher stains. Skip oils and shine sprays.
  • Sunbrella: brush off dirt, clean with water and mild soap using a soft brush, rinse well, air dry.
  • Aquaclean: most stains lift with water alone — apply, wait a few seconds, rub gently in circles.
Quartz, Corian & marble
  • Clean daily with pH-neutral dish soap and a non-abrasive sponge.
  • Wipe spills promptly; don't let cleaners sit longer than 5 minutes.
  • Keep out of direct sun and away from heat above 200 °C.
Acrylic
  • Soft cloth with water; baby shampoo for tougher messes.
  • Light scratches polish out with car wax on a soft cloth.
  • Avoid solvents, abrasive pads, and window cleaners.
Stainless steel
  • Clean with distilled or purified water to prevent spots.
  • Microfiber cloth and a stainless polish give the best finish.
  • Keep away from bleach, grease, and rough scrubbing tools.
Tempered glass
  • Wipe gently with a soft cloth and a glass cleaner, ideally in the shade to avoid streaks.
  • Avoid pressure on the edges and protect from strong impacts.
